APC Responds to Kwankwaso's Allegations, Calls for Restraint

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rebutted claims made by Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State and the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Felix Morka, Esq., the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso accused the APC-led federal government of attempting to create new Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents in Northern Nigeria, alleging that certain individuals within the APC were encouraging the government to declare a state of emergency in Kano State to reclaim it.

These comments were linked to the ongoing emirate dispute in Kano.

The APC has labeled Kwankwaso’s remarks as highly incendiary and disappointing. They stressed that such allegations are grossly insensitive, unwarranted, and could fuel tension in Kano.

As a former Governor and Minister of Defence, Kwankwaso is expected to understand the severe implications of such unguarded utterances.

The APC emphasized that the federal government has maintained neutrality in the emirate crisis in Kano, respecting the rule of law and constitutional liberties.

The matter is already before the courts, and the government has no reason to side with any party involved.

The party also referred to a previous incident involving the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, who made similar unhelpful accusations against the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, but later retracted and apologized.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leader of the APC, is committed to peace, security, and unity in Nigeria, and any allegations suggesting otherwise are unfounded. The APC urged Kwankwaso to seek political and peaceful solutions to the emirate issue instead of inciting strife.

The APC called for calm in Kano State as the nation awaits a judicial or political resolution to the matter, emphasizing that the people of Kano deserve peace, unity, and security.
