Wike Urges Youths to Embrace Dialogue, Avoid Hardship Protest

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has urged youths in the nation’s capital to refrain from joining the planned August #EndBadGovernance protest against economic hardship.

The former Rivers State governor previously declared that the FCT would not accommodate any protests, sparking strong reactions from youths who vowed to stage a rally at Eagle Square next month.

However, during a town hall meeting with youth stakeholders in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT on Monday, Wike softened his stance and encouraged dialogue over protests. Area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious bodies, and representatives of women and youth groups attended the meeting.

In his welcome remarks, Wike appreciated those present for choosing dialogue and emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is committed to advancing the nation.

Wike also announced the President’s approval to establish a youth secretariat in the FCT Administration (FCTA) and police stations in each area council of the capital.

He called on youths to abandon the protest and engage in dialogue, assuring them of imminent improvements.
