First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, paid a condolence visit to the Saraki family in Lagos, ahead of the funeral of their matriarch, Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki.
During her visit, the First Lady expressed heartfelt condolences to the Saraki children, emphasising that her visit, sanctioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was to show the family’s deep affection and support.
“We are one family. Politics aside, Mr. President will always look out for you,” she said. “Mama lived a good life. I know it hurts, but we thank God for the good life she lived.”
Senator Tinubu also highlighted her professional relationship with the late Mrs. Saraki’s son, Senator Bukola Saraki, noting his consistent support during her tenure in the Senate. She offered prayers for the repose of Mrs. Saraki’s soul.
Senator Bukola Saraki, in his response, expressed his appreciation for the First Lady’s visit, describing her as a compassionate and loving individual. “You always see the bigger picture. I know you are here with the knowledge of the President. Thank you very much,” he remarked.
The visit ended with prayers from both Christian and Islamic faiths for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for the nation.
Among those present were Mrs. Saraki’s children, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Mrs. Tope Edu, and Mr. Laolu Saraki, along with other members of the extended family.
