The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has urged Nigerians to be patience, saying that the Bola Tinubu administration is working tirelessly to address the socio economic challenges confronting the nation.
Oba Akiolu spoke at his Iga Idugaran palace, Lagos on Tuesday when the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu paid him a courtesy visit.
The monarch emphasised that President Tinubu’s intentions for the nation are benevolent and grassroots-focused.
“All that I am saying and appealing for is that we should pray for Nigeria and the president. We should be patient. Everything good needs prayers,” Oba Akiolu said.
He also urged Nigerian youth to stay close to God, highlighting their potential and industrious nature.
“Though some youth are incurably lazy and are always waiting to be spoon-fed, teach them not to always wait for fish but learn how to fish themselves,” he added.
The visit provided an opportunity for Oba Akiolu to reiterate his call for Lagos State to be granted special status, in recognition of its historical significance as Nigeria’s former federal capital city.
Senator Tinubu was accompanied on the visit by the wives of several South West governors, National Assembly members, ministers, and service chiefs.
The First Lady expressed gratitude for the Oba’s continuous prayers, guidance and support for the administration.
“I assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do well for this country. He loves Nigeria, he loves Nigerians, and will do the best for them,” she stated.
Senator Tinubu assured the Oba that the request for special status for Lagos State would be brought to the attention of the National Assembly through the state’s representatives.
The monarch showered traditional blessings on the First Lady and commended her empowerment projects across the country through her Renewed Hope Initiative.
