Ports across Nigeria, including those in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri, Onne, and Calabar, are shut down as the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria joins the nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
An official from the Union confirmed to Frontline that operations have ceased in compliance with the strike directive, and they will remain closed until further notice from the national leadership of organized labour.
The strike, triggered by the federal government’s failure to implement the proposed national minimum wage, has effectively paralyzed the nation’s economy, according to reports.
